Ventilation between floors.

Turn off the electric power for the room you are working in. There are many ways but this is the way i do it efficiently with quality and time. If this space is not ventilated the air in it becomes stagnant and humid and the moisture within it begins to condense on the brickwork and flooring. This size fits just between most floor joists.

Add a false return grille cut an access hole in the ceiling of the first floor in a central area to gain access to the ducts. Cross flow ventilation was traditionally achieved by placing sleeper walls see figure 2 at intervals throughout the sub floor. The sleeper walls would be honeycombed in nature to facilitate airflow. You cut a small hole in the ceiling to check that there.

During the summer the glycol ground loop will lower the temperature of your ventilation system s supply air. The most common size duct used is 14 in. If the ground loop was sized properly it will handle the needs of your hrv. Here are several ways to access ducts.

Locating the vent 1. Occasionally we need to access the ducts between the floors to improve the airflow. Sub floor ventilation many traditional properties are built with a suspended wooden floor which sits above a void air space between the perimeter walls and ground. Mark each corner of the 4 x 4 square with a nail.
